MONDAY IS THE NOVEMBER KPSHA BOARD MEETING
TUESDAY ARE THE CITY ELECTIONS
TRAFFIC CALMING INSTALLATIONS
Hello neighbors. It’s the first week of November and tonight is KPSHA monthly board meeting at Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Church, Spitzer Education Building at 6:30 pm. All meetings are open to the public. Click here for tonight’s agenda. In addition to usual reports, we will discuss: Halloween Review, Christmas Lighting Plans, Looney Island/Boat Launch, Traffic Calming, Area Zoning, and Cherokee Blvd. Beautification.
Two months ago, ten residents attended the board meeting at the last minute to hear our guest speaker. Again, last month, one resident came to hear about our plans for the Looney Island/Boat Launch for kayaks. Afterward, he not only joined the KPSHA as a member but also purchased a Limited-Edition Frog Ornament. Click here for minutes from Sept. 8, 2025. (approved). Oct. 13, 2025, Minutes to be approved this evening and will be posted next month.
In truth, my main reason for attending the meeting was my interest in what is going on with the Looney Island boat ramp which I use frequently. On that topic I was happy to hear the ideas of a no wake zone and possible ramp improvements. Having said that, I was heartened to hear all the discussion of the efforts of the Association to continue keeping our neighborhood safe and beautiful. I was even more encouraged to hear the sincere discussion of how the Association could address neighbor concerns. It is clear to me that the folks running it are trying to listen to everyone and trying to understand everyone's diverse viewpoints (not common these days). If I'm available, I'll certainly come back for another meeting.—Dave Riestenberg

TRAFFIC CALMING
Construction to begin this week, Novemeber 3, 2025
Scenic Dr. near Glenfield Dr., Morning of November 3
HOT OFF THE EMAIL: Notice received this morning from the City of Knoxville
Monday they will cut out for the 9-speed devices on Scenic and Southgate.
On Tuesday, they plan to cut out for the 7 remaining devices on Noelton, Blows Ferry, and Arrowhead Trail, while a second crew installs the speed devices on Scenic and Southgate.
Wednesday they plan to complete the speed devices on Noelton, Blows Ferry, and Arrowhead Trail.
Installation may continue into Thursday if any issues arise, and there is a chance that it will be shifted to other roads ahead of schedule if things go well.
The paint for the speed devices is temperature-dependent, but they will be marked within 2 weeks. In the meantime, there will be cones at each location. I am in contact with our transportation department to try and get the street signage installed next week as well.
